# `clock`

The date and time. Reading it wakes the shell only as often as what is
read changes.

| `today` | `Date` | Today's date: `clock.today.month_start()`. |
| `now` | `Date` | The current date and time, to the minute. |

| `fn format(pattern: text) -> text` | Wakes only as often as the pattern changes (once a minute for %H:%M). |
